What is your current research interest?

The retinal location of miRNA in the exudative form of Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD) using a choroidal neovascularisation (CNV) model.

When did you first become interested in vision science?

I’ve been very curious about neuroscience from the very moment I learnt about a neuron in high school! As an extension of that, the intricacies surrounding vision science fascinate me.

What is your favourite experiment?

Immunohistochemistry

What are your favourite hobbies outside of the lab?

I really enjoy the excitement of travelling and the process of immersing yourself in a new culture. I love to paint and draw, spend time at the beach and play not so competitive tennis with friends

What is your favourite cuisine?

BIO:

Hey, I’m Skye! I’m currently in my third year of the Bachelor of Philosophy- Science undergraduate research degree with a focus on neuroscience and immunology. I grew up in beautiful rural NSW, however, with an abundance of critical health conditions affecting rural populations, I ultimately aspire to support these communities through my later research beyond this degree.

I’m very excited to undergo a research project with Clear Vision Research (CVR) in semester 2 this year. My project will focus on exudative Age-related Macular Degeneration (AMD)- a currently incurable condition involving severe, often rapid progression of central vision loss.

I feel beyond privileged to have this hands on research experience with CVR and the opportunity to contribute in this critical field.
